Portsmouth Historic Dockyard Advertising Billboard Cockup!

Portsmouth Historic Dockyard recently launched a new advertising campaign across Portsmouth and the South to try and attract more parents and children to come down to the docks.  The advertisement has caused a few raised eyebrows as it would appear that a young ship hand is being “jolly rogered”over a canon by the Captain!  See for yourself:

We’re not sure what exactly goes on at Portsmouth Dockyard but if the tag line to the ad is anything to go by then I’m sure it is likely to keep visitors away rather than attracting them.  It is being reported that the advert will stay in circulation until it has finished its run but will not be used again.

Training Is The Key To Good Presentation Skills

Posted by Admin on August 26, 2008

Anyone that has to give a talk, seminar or presentation needs some sort of presentation skills training. Talking in front of a group of people can be daunting no matter who you are. It does not matter if you know the people or even if they are total strangers, standing up alone and commanding an audience?s attention is difficult no matter whom you are. For those unfortunate enough to have a learning difficulty like dyslexia then this can make the task even more difficult.

People come up with techniques like imaging a naked audience to try and get through it. Some techniques can work for some people but not others so you need to find what works for you. However there are a few things that everyone can do to get by when speaking in public whether you?re dyslexic or not.

Failing to prepare is like preparing to fail. If you walk into a room with out a good understanding of what you are going to talk about how can you expect to do well? Knowing your subject will help you to do well during a conference or seminar.

Technique is the other presentation skills training that you should work on and this is something that everyone needs to take into account. A common mistake is that people read their notes rather than use them as a guide. This is terrible conference management because the presenter talks into their chest rather than at the audience. You can get around this problem by using your slide show as a guide to reference from.

If you struggle with making eye contact with the audience then look behind them. It will appear to the audience as if you are looking directly at them and they will feel engaged and you won?t need to focus directly on one or two people. Remember to practise your presentation skills training because this will help you to build confidence and improve your skills.

If you still have problems you can get someone to give you presentation skills training at home, university or college. These people will have a broad range of techniques, learning methods and facilities that will allow you to practise and perfect your skills till you are confident enough to do it yourself.

Consoles really arent cutting the mustard in comparison to PC’s.

PC gaming won’t ever be dead for me. They’ll have to pry my burning mouse and keyboard out of my cooling hands, and break the lead to disconnect me from my steaming server. The motive behind this ouburst is, someone points out the fact that PC gaming is ?smaller? than console gaming. What exactly is that supposed to mean? PC gaming has a greater scope for modding which allows gamers to vary the way they play. Gamers can make their own maps far easier than Console games. Digital downloading appears to be a promising future for PC gaming, so long as the pricing works. One thing normally not mentioned about the physical box and disk was the reassurance of back-up.

Take pleasure in PC gaming, sound and films with home theater quality sound and bass, within your own private listening environment! As a outcome, the PC gaming industry is increasingly dedicated to more immersive games, such as complex first-person shooters like Crysis, while the consoles are thought of as more of a social experience.

As well as the hardware being more potent, but developers are happier working on the PC architecture than when compared with consoles, and there’s a greater amount of graphics RAM, system RAM and storage space to play with. Compare Bioshock on the 360 to Bioshock on a mid-range or high-end Computer system, it’s already clear that a Computer can give more meticulous textures and imposing effects. Gaming on Computers has evolved over the years to be as sophisticated, fast, and graphics-intensive as console gaming. In fact, if you want the best in gaming machines, the no-holds-barred, polygon-generating king of the hill, you need to look at a PC, not a console.

With the present day?s increasing facility for data storage, growing ISP downstream, and advances in multimedia PC technology, the demand for a separate serving multimedia platform has developed hugely within the past few years. When PC game sales drop, a large factor is mainly the lack of quality-focused and rationally limited game design on that platform.

Although the console industry dominates the gaming world, the PC is still the king of first person shooters and real-time strategy games with its extraordinary ability to display a plethora of high resolutions and amazing graphical effects. Some of us swim against the current and predict the downfall not of PC gaming, but of game consoles. The main reason consoles are so repetitively marketed is that fighting piracy is the main reason for their present existence, and explains how the coming together of the GPU and the CPU is the next big thing in gaming. The situation led the community manager for Infinity Ward to recently complain about the number of people using Call of Duty 4 online versus the number of versions of the game, that had been sold for the PC?
